We here at the Edge have decided to give control of the radio, back to you the Edge Listener. All you need to do is send us your Perfect 16 song play list. Each Monday through Friday, we will select an Edge Listener play list, and cram as many of the songs as possible into your lunch hour. It's that Easy. Each week, the Edge Staff will vote on their favorite play list, and that Edge Listener will receive lunch on the house, courtesy of Wendy's. Its way better than fast food, it's Wendy's.
Here are some tips for making a "Nooner" play list good enough to make it on-air:
1. Choose your songs wisely.
"Man In the Box" by Alice In Chains is definitely the balls. But if everyone else in Capitaland puts it in a play list, we start getting a little bored with it. Think Outside the Box.Hehe, we Said Box!
2. Mix it up. You want to choose some stuff the Edge audience is going to know, but don't make it all so generic that it sounds like the suits are picking the music. You want to be out there, but not so out there that your creepy next door neighbor wouldn't even think about playing it.
3. Get creative. Come up with a theme ("songs about drinking," "bands from the 1990's," "People who Died," etc). What often puts a play list over the top is a little story by you explaining why you chose the songs. Even "I'm totally drunk and these are the first 16 songs I thought of" is better than nothing. Separate yourself from all the other submissions we get. A lot of you guys can pick great songs, but tell us something about you. Why should your play list get on-air over someone else's?
* We may swap a song or two... Your list may rock, but if it contains a track that we just can't find, or have used in a play list before, we'll swap it for a different song by that artist.
